terms of service

pencyl is a drawing-practice app: tracing, perspective, gesture, shading and figure exercises, with optional accounts that save your results and a paid “pro” subscription that removes the practice meter and unlocks deeper reports and personalised coaching. every lesson and every drawing tool is free on both plans. by using the app you agree to these terms. if you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.

you can practice without an account. creating one (via email/password or google sign-in) lets us save your results and stats. you are responsible for keeping your credentials safe and for activity under your account. you must be old enough to consent to these terms in your jurisdiction, or have a parent or guardian’s permission.

you can delete your account at any time from the account settings page. deletion is immediate and permanent: your practice history, stats and any active subscription are removed and cannot be recovered.

practice is unlimited on every plan, including signed out. what pro adds is content: a wider pool of shapes, solids and subjects on each board, and the advanced half of every curriculum level. the free pool is a complete course on its own — every level has free lessons and every difficulty has subjects you can practise.

which content sits on which plan may change as the app evolves. work you have already done is never taken away: results, xp, streak, rank and lessons you have passed stay on your account whatever your plan.

new accounts may start one 7-day pro trial. no card is required and nothing is charged when it ends — access simply returns to the free plan, and everything you recorded during the trial stays yours. one trial per account.

pro is a paid subscription billed monthly or yearly. payments are processed by polar acting as merchant of record — your purchase is also governed by polar’s terms. we never see or store your card details.

you can cancel anytime from the billing portal (account settings → manage subscription). after cancelling you keep pro until the end of the period you paid for; you will not be charged again. refunds are handled case by case — get in touch via the contact link below. if you live somewhere with a statutory right of withdrawal or cancellation for digital purchases (for example the eu’s 14-day right), that right applies and is honoured by polar as the merchant of record.

prices may change; existing subscribers will be notified before any change affects them.

don’t abuse the service: no attempts to disrupt it, to access other users’ data, to reverse-engineer paid features, or to use the app for anything unlawful. we may suspend accounts that do.

your drawings stay on your device; what we store server-side is your profile and practice results (scores, stats, settings), as described in the privacy policy. you own your data; we only use it to run the service.

the app is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. to the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

we may update these terms as the app evolves. material changes will be announced in the app; continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
